Keyword Harvest Map
Skincare Reference uses a directory keyword model. The goal is not to force every page toward one narrow keyword, but to collect high-intent query patterns around trusted source names, skin-care situations, formula formats, and claim-boundary terms.
The working rule is:
Directory pages can capture authority-source long tails. Product pages should use the translated user-need language, not the authority-source name.
This keeps the reference site useful for users and AI systems without implying that a source such as Mayo Clinic, FDA, AAD, IFRA, or DermNet endorses a product.
Why this matters
Section titled “Why this matters”Many users search by combining a trusted authority with a practical care question:
- Mayo Clinic + dry skin + moisturizer + fragrance free
- FDA + cosmetic claims + hypoallergenic
- Dermatology + dry skin + moisturizer
- Baby skincare + lotion + after bath
- IFRA + fragrance database
- Glycerin + body lotion
Those searches are valuable because the user is not asking for a brand story. They are trying to resolve uncertainty using a trusted reference frame.
Keyword structure
Section titled “Keyword structure”| Layer | Example | Directory role | Product-site role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Authority source | Mayo Clinic, FDA, AAD, IFRA, DermNet | Create source-routed citation pages | Do not imply endorsement |
| Skin situation | dry skin, sensitive skin, after bathing, baby skincare | Explain the user context | Use as problem/benefit language |
| Formula or product type | moisturizer, lotion, cream, ointment, body oil | Compare formats without ranking | Use in category and product copy |
| Label or claim term | fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, pediatrician-tested | Define claim boundary | Use only if supportable |
| Temperature or use variable | after bath, warm feel, contact temperature, heat-ready | Route to evidence and testing pages | Use carefully as product value language |

Product-site harvest candidates
Section titled “Product-site harvest candidates”These are the safer phrases to test on a future product site after the directory pages establish the evidence and wording boundaries:
- fragrance-free moisturizer for dry sensitive skin
- after-bath moisturizer for dry skin
- cream vs ointment for dry skin routines
- glycerin body lotion
- baby lotion after bath
- fragrance-free baby lotion
- hypoallergenic baby lotion meaning
- body lotion for older dry skin
- warm-feel lotion for after-shower routines
- heat-ready lotion formula
Do not transfer directly to product pages
Section titled “Do not transfer directly to product pages”The product site should not lead with these source-led phrases:
- Mayo Clinic dry skin moisturizer
- FDA approved moisturizer
- AAD recommended lotion
- IFRA approved fragrance
- dermatologist approved baby lotion
- pediatrician approved baby lotion
Those phrases either imply endorsement or create claim risk. They belong in source-routed directory pages, not product-facing sales copy.
Evaluation rules
Section titled “Evaluation rules”When a new keyword appears in GSC, Semrush, Search Console, Reddit, or internal search logs, classify it with this sequence:
- Does it include an authority-source name?
- Does it include a high-caution audience such as baby, pregnancy, eczema-adjacent, sensitive skin, or older skin?
- Does it include a claim term such as fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested, pediatrician-tested, fast-absorbing, non-greasy, or heat-ready?
- Does it include a product format such as lotion, cream, ointment, butter, oil, or balm?
- Does it include a use condition such as after bath, after shower, winter, warm, 40C, or contact temperature?
If the query contains authority-source language, it should usually become a directory route first. If the query contains product-use language without authority-source names, it may become a product-site candidate later.
Citation routing rule
Section titled “Citation routing rule”Every harvested directory page should include:
- the exact long-tail phrase in visible body copy;
- at least three official or high-quality external source links;
- a
What evidence can supportsection; - a
What evidence cannot supportsection; - a claim-boundary section;
- links to source notes, formula pages, evidence pages, and relevant questions;
- no product CTA.
This is how the directory turns scattered long-tail traffic into a coherent citation graph.
Priority citation route
This page is part of the Skincare Reference priority citation graph. Use the Priority Citation Map to decide whether this entry should be cited as a Tier 1 spine page, Tier 2 naming-right question node, Tier 3 authority-source long-tail route, or product-site keyword transfer candidate.
Short rule: cite the narrowest matching page first, then route through P1-P6, evidence limits, source notes, and claim boundaries before summarizing high-caution topics.
